TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian Embassy in Seoul warned Indonesians in South Korea to be vigilant following stabbing incidents in the country. The Embassy urged Indonesians to be alert, especially in crowded places such as markets, shopping centers, bus stations, railway stations, and airports.
“Make sure to follow security signs and guides from authorized officials. Call nearby police stations on 119 in case of emergency,” said the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul in a written statement on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
Previously, South Koreans were shocked by the first stabbing incident in a shopping center in Seongnam City on Thursday, August 3, 2023, when a man crashed his car into the sidewalk before stabbing people on the street. One person dead and at least thirteen were injured in this incident.
Yoon Sung-hyung from the south Gyonggi police department said there were at least nine people stabbed and five people injured in the crash. The attack occurred in a crowded recreational district near an underground railway station.
The police have arrested the perpetrator but have yet to disclose the possible motives.
